Same Day Care Services

Same-Day Care Services Update

Our summer Same-Day Care pilot concluded on September 17, 2026. Same-day and walk-in services for non-established patients of Island Health Care are currently paused while we evaluate a telehealth-based model for same-day appointments during the off-season.

IHC patients should continue to access care through our standard scheduling processes. Updates regarding future same-day care options will be posted on this page as they become available.

What Will It Offer?

Same-day scheduled appointments for non-established patients (individuals who are not already a primary care patient at Island Health Care) ages 6 months and up experiencing minor, non-emergency health issues, such as:

  • Cold, flu, or respiratory symptoms
  • Fever or upset stomach
  • Rashes or small cuts
  • Tick bites
  • Other straightforward issues

Services will be provided primarily in our mobile health unit located at our Edgartown facility.

IMPORTANT: Same-day care is not intended to replace emergency care. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please call 911 or go to Martha’s Vineyard Hospital’s Emergency Department.

How Will It Work?

Individuals seeking same-day care will be screened for eligibility and scheduled for a same-day appointment if appropriate. This is not a walk-in service—you must call ahead to schedule a same-day appointment.

Hours

Our Same Day Services line is open during the following hours:

  • Monday–Thursday, 8am–4pm
  • Saturday, 8am–2pm

Same-day appointments are available 12–8pm Monday-Thursday and 8am–4pm Saturday.

If You're Already a Patient of Island Health Care...

If you are a primary care patient of Island Health Care, you will continue to be able to schedule same-day appointments through the existing process. Please call (508) 939-9358 the morning of the day you would like to be seen, and our team will help get you scheduled.
