The Behavioral Health Clinician will provide high-quality behavioral health services to patients. Certified Dental Assistant

The Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) will be joining a highly collaborative, fast-paced, and team-based care environment. The CDA has a variety of responsibilities that including preparing the dental operatory, instruments, equipment, and materials needed for each patient procedure, providing patient education, and documenting encounters in the Electronic Health Record. Interested in a fast-paced team-based career in the dental field? Island Health Care will provide tuition and paid time to complete the CareerStep Online Dental Assistant Program. The course covers a variety of topics, including HIPAA, rules and regulations, endodontic procedures, embryology, dental imaging, and more. When our new dental center opens you will join IHC’s dental team, complete your practical hands-on on the job training under the supervision of IHC’s dental director, and be eligible to take the dental assistant licensing exam.

Practice Manager

The Practice Manager is responsible for the overall administrative oversight of the Dental Center. This will include organizing staff, including externship students, complying with regulatory agencies/requirements (e.g., OSHA, DPH), and developing and implementing policies and procedures governing all aspects of clinical operations, infection control, quality assurance, equipment maintenance, patient complaints and incident reporting. The Practice Manager will also be responsible for overseeing the insurance reimbursement process including proper dental coding and claims submission.

The full-time Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) assists in patient care and delivers quality dental hygiene and preventive measures. The RDH prepares the operatory, instruments, equipment, and materials needed for each patient procedure. The RDH assesses patient oral health condition and risks and uses screening procedures, including medical history review, dental charting and periodontal-charting, takes patient vital signs and X-rays if needed, documents dental history and patient’s chief complaint, and reports pertinent observations. The RDH is responsible for cleaning, polishing, application of sealants, fluoride varnishes and related preventive procedures.

Front Desk Administrator

The Front Desk Administrator is an essential member of a team-based care environment. Public Health Inspector

The Inter-Island Public Health Excellence Coalition is currently seeking a Public Health Inspector to perform Inspection and investigatory work pertaining to the enforcement of applicable health and safety codes, protection of the environment and control of disease and other related work, as required.

Incumbent Under the direction and supervision of the town health agents, the position will enforce federal, state and local laws and regulations pertaining to public health and safety; investigate food borne illness outbreaks; inspect, license and regulate food service establishments, day care centers, nursing homes, food distribution programs, retail food stores and special events; educate food handlers on prevention of food-borne illness; investigate and respond to complaints relating to unsanitary, dangerous and/or unsafe living conditions and environments, rodent and insect control, drinking water and septic systems; respond to general complaints, including
nuisances, odors, rabies control, air quality, solid waste, hazardous waste, etc.

This inspector may also assist the town’s health agent in restaurant plan reviews, inspection of swimming pools, children’s camps, body art establishments, tanning salons, and tobacco control. In addition, the inspector may participate in interdepartmental housing and short term rental inspections with the Building, Fire and Police Departments for all six Martha’s Vineyard Towns and Nantucket. At the direction of the supervisory staff, the inspector  may also be called upon to participate in court complaints and cases of non-compliance using administrative and/or judicial procedures.

Public Health Biologist (Martha’s Vineyard & Nantucket)

The work of the Public Health Biologist focuses on prevention,
investigation, surveillance, and public education for vector-borne diseases and environmental exposures.

Examples include, but are not limited to: tick-borne diseases, such as Lyme disease; mosquito-borne encephalitis; other emerging zoonotic diseases; and exposure to harmful algal blooms.

An incumbent in the Public Health Biologist position will apply scientific methods, principles, and experience in basic medical entomology, zoology, parasitology, toxicology, coordinate emergency vector control, as required.

The PH Biologist will serve as a key resource for local health agencies on developing and advancing research efforts on environmental health, human health and animal risks, associated with viruses and environmental exposures as well as contributing to municipal and community-based climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts as appropriate,

Island Health Care Community Health Center Board of Directors is seeking new members. The federal health center governance model requires a patient majority on the Board and we are currently looking for two new patient members to be nominated and elected by the Board over the next few months.

COVID-19 Test Site Volunteers

To volunteer to help with testing, send us an email:

Drive-thru diagnostic testing for COVID-19 is available for any asymptomatic Islander or visitor who wants a test.

The test site at the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School is open from 9AM to 3:30PM Monday-Friday. Clinical and non-clinical volunteers are needed. If interested, please email islandhealthcaremv@gmail.com.

At this time, Island Health Care is not able to see walk-in patients.

If you are already a primary care patient of IHC and need to be seen right away, please call us at 508-939-9358 and we will do our best to schedule you for a same- or next-day appointment. Please do not show up at the clinic without a scheduled appointment.

If you are not currently a patient of IHC, you may submit a new patient packet and we will contact you to schedule a new patient appointment. If you require walk-in/same day care, please go to the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital Emergency Room.
